QLab Pro for Mac integrates powerful audio, video, and lighting control functionalities into an elegant and efficient software platform. The latest version introduces the new light cue feature, major updates to the iOS version of QLab Remote, and includes over 40 new features and improvements, making it the most feature-rich version of QLab to date.
One, Multifunctional and User-friendly Performance Control
QLab employs an intuitive user interface to help you design and arrange multimedia content in a smooth and customizable workspace. Its core function lies in managing various media and control protocols such as audio, video, MIDI, and OSC (Open Sound Control).
The software provides a rich set of building blocks, known as “cues”. Users can easily build impressive multimedia performance sequences by simply dragging and clicking. After importing media files, you can easily add volume fade-in/fade-out instructions, set animation effects for video clips, and apply a variety of video and audio effects.
Two, Customizable Scripts and Rich Audio and Video Processing Capabilities
After mastering basic operations, you can enhance your creation level with more advanced features, such as:
- Script Writing: Implementing complex automation and control logic.
- Multi-projector Edge Blending: Creating seamless large-scale projection scenes.
- Video Geometric Correction: Supports trapezoid distortion correction and fixed angles, adapting to various projection surfaces.
- Auditory Spatialization: Achieving precise sound source positioning.
- Multicomputer Collaboration: Building multi-computer designs and sending synchronized commands to multiple QLab systems within the same local network.
After arranging the cue list (Cue List), you can preview the entire performance in real-time using the “Start (Go)” button. Utilize the “Warnings” panel to thoroughly check the list and identify all potential issues.
Three, Professional Hardware Support and Powerful Toolset
QLab provides a comprehensive set of professional tools to meet high-standard performance requirements:
- Audio Processing: Supports up to 48 output and 24 input audio channels, equipped with an intuitive waveform editor, adjustable pitch playback rate, matrix mixer, and a variety of audio effect processors.
- Video Processing: Offers video faders, animation tools, multiple video effects, Syphon integration, and supports real-time video input (including professional capture devices such as Blackmagic Design).
- Advanced Operations: Supports overlay titles, handling multiple video display surfaces, applying custom fade-in/fade-out curves, file slicing, marker points, and external video effect plugins.
Version 5.0.7 Update Content
New Features:
- Added OSC commands and unique IDs to the video stage area.
Behavior Changes:
- Optimized audio input management logic. When there are no cues or audio input channels in use, QLab will more actively shut down the audio input (resolving the “orange dot” cue issue).
Error Fixes:
- Fixed the regression issue where a cue targeting QLab itself could cause QLab to crash.
- Fixed crashes that occurred when adding, deleting, or moving cues during automatic save processes.
- Fixed the issue where cues could not be stopped again after starting a cue and immediately stopping the sequence.
- Fixed the brief gray or white flickering that could occur when video playback starts on certain computers.
- Fixed the display anomaly in the network cue checkers settings tab when cues with mixed boolean parameters are included.
- Fixed the issue where audio effects were not immediately deleted when removing audio effects from an audio channel.
- Fixed the issue with the checkbox functionality for enabling/disabling audio effects in the fade-in/fade-out cue checkers.
- Now, cues without targets will always be set to absolute mode. This fix also resolved the issue with setting absolute mode on template fade-in/fade-out cues.
- Fixed the compatibility issue with fade-in/fade-out cues used to adjust audio effect parameters when importing cues from a v4 workspace.
- Fixed the issue where MIDI channels assigned to virtual devices were not reconnected upon reopening the workspace.
- Enhanced support for messages that need to send extra spaces (such as line breaks) at the end.
- Corrected the network device description for the Music Tribe X32/XR18/M32 devices.
- Fixed the issue where audio playback would briefly experience an excessive playback rate when sending audio to NDI output at the start of playback.
