Proxyman is a modern, intuitive HTTP debugging proxy application built specifically for the macOS platform. Its core goal is to simplify the network debugging process and help developers efficiently capture, inspect, and manipulate HTTP/HTTPS traffic, freeing them from the constraints of traditional cumbersome debugging tools.
Proxyman provides a powerful set of network debugging tools that support in-depth problem diagnosis and repair at the network level:
Below are screenshots of Proxyman’s main feature interfaces:

Tip: Proxyman focuses on providing macOS developers with an efficient and intuitive network debugging experience, continuously optimizing features and stability through version updates.
The installation process for Proxyman is relatively simple, but to ensure SSL packet capture works properly, certificate configuration is required. Here are the complete steps:
Download the Proxyman v4.15.0 dmg installer from this site. Double-click to open it, then drag the Proxyman icon to the Applications folder to complete installation.
Open Launchpad, find Proxyman, and launch it. The system will prompt for network permissions; click “Allow” to let Proxyman monitor network traffic.
This is key to capturing HTTPS traffic. Click the menu bar Proxyman > Install Certificate on macOS. The system will open the Keychain Access window; add the certificate to the “System” keychain.
In Keychain Access, find the “Proxyman CA” certificate and double-click to open it. Expand the “Trust” section and change “When using this certificate” to “Always Trust”. Enter your password to confirm.
After completing the above steps, Proxyman will automatically start capturing traffic. Visit any HTTPS website in your browser, and you will see the encrypted request content displayed in plain text in the Proxyman interface.
To capture iOS Simulator traffic, click the menu bar Proxy > iOS Simulator. Follow the prompts to install the configuration profile and trust the certificate.
Please check whether the certificate has been added to the “System” keychain and set to “Always Trust”. Also confirm that Proxyman’s SSL proxy switch is enabled.
Proxyman v4.15.0 supports macOS 10.14 Mojave and later, including the latest macOS Ventura and Sonoma.
Enter the domain keyword in the search box at the top of the main interface, or use the filter panel to combine conditions for precise filtering.
It supports ES6+ syntax and includes built-in common network request processing libraries. You can access request headers and body, and modify response data.
Right-click any request and select “Map Local”. In the pop-up window, select the local file path and save to apply.
Click the “Resume” button in the breakpoint panel, or simply close the breakpoint session. Modifications only apply to the current request.
No. Proxyman uses an efficient memory management mechanism, with minimal impact on network performance, making it suitable for long-term debugging use.
Select a request, right-click, and choose “Export” to export it as a HAR file for easy sharing and archiving.
No. The certificate is installed globally, and version updates do not affect certificate configuration. Simply update the app.
It is recommended to restart Proxyman first. If the problem persists, try clearing the cache or reinstalling the software. You can also contact us for technical support.

When debugging APIs, you can set two conditions simultaneously: “Protocol = HTTPS” and “Content-Type = application/json”. This displays only HTTPS requests in JSON format, greatly reducing noise.
Write a simple JS script to add custom fields to the response body. For example, insert debugging information into the JSON data returned by the API, allowing you to verify front-end logic without changing backend code.
First use breakpoints to modify request parameters and confirm the effect, then use the local mapping feature to save the modified content as a local file. Next time you test, simply map it directly, saving repetitive operations.
Scenario: When developing an iOS app login feature, you need to verify the handling logic for different error codes. Use Proxyman’s breakpoint tool to pause after the login request is sent, and manually modify the status code and error message returned by the server. Test scenarios such as 401, 403, and 500 one by one to ensure the client correctly handles various exceptions.
Scenario: Front-end developers are waiting for backend APIs to be completed, which affects development progress. Use Proxyman’s local mapping feature to map a simulated JSON response file to the actual API URL. The front-end can develop pages independently without waiting for the backend, and seamlessly switch by disabling the mapping during integration.
For projects using GraphQL, configure QueryName matching rules in Proxyman. When a specific query request is captured, it automatically enters breakpoint mode, making it easy to inspect request parameters and response structures.
After completing a round of debugging, export key requests as HAR files. These files can be archived as test cases for team members to reproduce issues, or as supplementary material for API documentation.
With its intuitive interface design and powerful debugging features, Proxyman v4.15.0 has become an essential network tool for macOS developers. Whether for daily API debugging, HTTPS traffic analysis, or front-end/back-end collaborative development, it can significantly improve work efficiency. Through the installation tutorial, shortcut table, and practical examples in this article, we believe everyone can quickly get started and maximize its value.
If you encounter any problems during use, please feel free to leave a comment. We will continue to follow Proxyman’s updates and bring you more practical technical content.
