SQLPro for MySQL is a powerful MySQL and MariaDB database client tool designed to provide users with efficient and convenient access and management of database servers. It can quickly connect to and operate local or cloud MySQL servers, supporting instances hosted on cloud platforms including but not limited to Amazon RDS and Microsoft Azure.
Please note: This client is designed specifically for MySQL and MariaDB and is not applicable to other database servers (such as Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL).
SQLPro for MySQL integrates multiple professional features to improve the efficiency of database development and management:
The following are screenshots of the SQLPro for MySQL interface, demonstrating its intuitive layout and core functions:

The steps to install SQLPro for MySQL are very simple, and even beginners can easily get started. Please follow the process below:
Download the installation package from the link provided on this page. After downloading, it is recommended to use the terminal command shasum -a 256 filename.dmg to verify file integrity. Compare the checksum with the officially published value to ensure the file has not been tampered with. This is a professional practice to enhance security.
Double-click the downloaded .dmg file, and the system will automatically mount and pop up the installation window. You will see an interface containing the application icon and the “Applications” folder. Do not double-click to run directly; instead, drag the application to the “Applications” folder.
Drag the SQLPro for MySQL icon onto the “Applications” folder icon on the right. The system will begin copying files. This process usually takes only a few seconds. After copying is complete, you can find the software in the “Applications” directory.
When opening for the first time, macOS may prompt “Cannot verify developer”. This is because the software is not distributed through the App Store. Please go to “System Preferences” > “Security & Privacy” > “General” and click the “Open Anyway” button. This is a macOS security mechanism, not a problem with the software itself.
After launching the software, you will see the activation window. Enter the activation code or registration file provided on this page. After successful activation, restart the software to unlock all features. It is recommended to configure the default connection character set to UTF-8 in “Preferences” to avoid Chinese garbled characters.
Click the “+” sign in the upper left corner of the interface to create a new connection. Fill in the hostname (such as localhost or IP address), port (default 3306), username, and password. Click “Test Connection” to test the connection, and save after success. This completes all installation and configuration work.
We have compiled the 7 most frequently reported issues from users and provided detailed answers:
Yes. According to the official documentation, SQLPro for MySQL is fully compatible with MariaDB servers. You only need to select MariaDB as the database type in the connection settings. However, note that some MariaDB-specific extended features (such as dynamic columns) may not be fully supported.
This is usually caused by three reasons. First, check whether the remote server’s firewall allows port 3306. Second, confirm whether the bind-address in the MySQL configuration file is set to 0.0.0.0. Third, verify whether the user permissions allow connection from remote hosts. Use the command GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'user'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'password'; to grant authorization.
First, confirm that your network connection is normal. Sometimes activation requires online verification. If it is still invalid, the activation code may have been banned. It is recommended to uninstall the software (including the residual ~/Library/Preferences/com.sqlpro.mysql.plist configuration file), then reinstall and enter a new activation code.
Go to “Preferences” > “Editor” > “Encoding” and set the character encoding to UTF-8. Also, ensure that the database connection string includes the parameter ?useUnicode=true&characterEncoding=UTF-8. This is the standard practice to solve garbled character issues.
Absolutely. SQLPro for MySQL is designed for multi-connection management. You can switch between different connections through the tabs at the top. Each connection runs independently without affecting others. This is very convenient for developers who need to operate development and test databases simultaneously.
First, check your Mac’s memory usage. If memory is insufficient, it is recommended to close other unnecessary applications. Second, disable the “Real-time Syntax Check” feature in “Preferences”. Finally, for large databases, it is recommended to use the LIMIT clause to limit the result set size when querying.
Open Terminal and execute cp ~/Library/Preferences/com.sqlpro.mysql.plist ~/Desktop/ to back up the configuration file to the desktop. After reinstalling the system, copy the backup file back to the original path to restore all connections. You can also export as a JSON file through the software’s “Export Connections” feature.

Cmd + Shift + R |
Execute all SQL statements in the editor | Batch run scripts |
Cmd + B |
Format SQL code | Beautify messy query statements |
Cmd + D |
Duplicate the current line or selected content | Quickly copy data |
Cmd + / |
Comment or uncomment selected lines | Temporarily disable statements when debugging SQL |
Cmd + T |
Create a new query tab | Multi-task parallel processing |

Cmd + F |
Find text in the editor | Search for specific keywords |
Cmd + G |
Jump to a specified line number | Quickly locate positions in long scripts |
Cmd + Shift + F |
Global search (across connections) | Find objects in multiple databases |
It is recommended to take a screenshot of this table and save it. After memorizing these shortcut keys, you can save at least 30 minutes of operation time every day.
Theoretical knowledge alone is not enough. Below are three practical cases to help you truly make good use of SQLPro for MySQL.
When writing multi-table join queries, manually typing table names and column names is error-prone. You can first type the first few letters of the table name, then press the Esc key to trigger intelligent sensing. It will list all matching tables and columns. Select and auto-complete. For example, type
