DockPops is a native Dock enhancement and organization tool designed specifically for macOS, addressing the pain point of inefficiently categorizing and managing applications, files, folders, and links through the system-native Dock. It achieves this by adding customizable “Pops” (grid-style quick folders) to the Dock, allowing commonly used content to be easily accessible with a single click, while supporting highly personalized customization and multi-scenario workflow management.
### Features:
#### 1. Pop Quick Folders Management
– **Capacity and Quantity**: Each Pop can accommodate up to 25 items (applications, files, folders, web links), with the paid version supporting up to 20 independent Pops, which can be quickly switched between using left and right swiping.
– **Content Addition**: Supports direct drag-and-drop from any Mac location to add items, without needing to enter a dedicated editing window; also supports adding content from the built-in App Browser, searching for and adding system applications, quick actions, and third-party content like Steam games.
– **Folder Navigation**: No need to jump to Finder; items within a Pop can be directly opened and navigated to their subdirectory contents.
– **Quick Editing**: Long-pressing an icon allows for reordering, and dragging an item out of the Pop’s edge will delete it with a macOS classic “poof” effect; supports custom renaming of applications, with the updated name appearing in all interfaces.
#### 2. Instant Launch and Workflows
– Clicking the DockPops icon in the Dock will pop up a grid interface, allowing you to quickly launch any item by clicking it.
– Supports **workflow saving**: Placing multiple applications/files into a single Pop, and then using the “Open All” button to launch them all at once, quickly entering a work state.
#### 3. Multi-Entry Running Mode
– **Dock Mode**: The default mode, where the main icon is displayed in the Dock, and clicking it will display all Pops in a carousel.
– **Menu Bar Mode** (added in version 4.0+): Allows running DockPops in the menu bar, not occupying Dock space; supports custom click behaviors (directly opening the Pop carousel or displaying a quick menu).
### Customization Features:
#### 1. Appearance Customization
– **Background Color**: Each Pop can have its own background color, with real-time preview effects; when the system is set to “Reduce Transparency,” it will automatically switch to a solid background.
– **Dock Icon Customization**: Each Pop can have its own unique Dock icon, with three modes available:
– Dynamic Composed Icon: Similar to iOS folders, automatically generating a combined icon based on the items within the Pop, supporting 2×2, 3×3, 4×4, or auto-density adjustment.
– Solid Variant Icon: Generating a unified style icon based on the Pop’s background color.
– Custom Icon: Supports importing PNG images or photos as exclusive icons (such as logos for work, entertainment, or family scenarios).
– **Icon Size Adjustment**: The paid version provides an icon size slider, allowing global scaling of all Pop icons; supports real-time scaling of Pop icons when opened using `Cmd+`/`Cmd-`; the free version can disable text labels to achieve a pure icon minimalist display.
#### 2. Multiple Dock Icon Support
– In conjunction with the **free DockPops Companion auxiliary application**, any Pop can be fixed as a standalone icon in the Dock, ensuring that commonly used Pop icons are always visible.
– In version 4.1, independent Dock icons no longer display as “Running” and do not occupy the `Cmd+Tab` switch space, aligning with the original Dock icon experience.
