DaisyDisk is a professional-grade disk space analysis and cleaning tool designed specifically for macOS. Its core advantage lies in its intuitive ‘Sunburst Map’ visualization and ultra-fast scanning performance, which efficiently helps users locate, analyze, and clean up files and redundant data that occupy large amounts of storage space, thereby optimizing disk usage efficiency.
Core Value: Through innovative visualization and efficient scanning technology, it transforms complex disk space usage into a clear graphical interface, enabling users to quickly and safely reclaim storage space.

The installation process for DaisyDisk is quite simple, but to ensure everything goes smoothly, we have prepared the following steps for your reference.
Step 1: Download and Extract
Download the DaisyDisk v4.33 installation package from the link provided on this page. After downloading, double-click the .dmg file, and the system will automatically mount and open a window containing the application icon.
Step 2: Drag and Drop Installation
Drag the DaisyDisk icon to the ‘Applications’ folder on the left. This is the most standard installation method on macOS; just wait for the progress bar to complete.
Step 3: First Launch and Authorization
Open ‘Launchpad’, find and click the DaisyDisk icon. On first launch, the system may prompt ‘DaisyDisk is an application downloaded from the Internet’; click ‘Open’ to proceed.
Step 4: Grant Disk Access Permission
After the software launches, it will request access to your disk. Click ‘Allow’ in the pop-up dialog, and in ‘System Preferences’ > ‘Security & Privacy’ > ‘Privacy’ > ‘Full Disk Access’, check the box for DaisyDisk.
Step 5: Start Using
After completing authorization, click the ‘Start Scan’ button on the main interface, and DaisyDisk will immediately analyze your disk space and generate a beautiful sunburst map.
We have compiled some common questions users may encounter while using DaisyDisk, hoping to help you quickly resolve your doubts.
Normally, DaisyDisk’s scanning speed is extremely fast. If you encounter slow scanning, please check whether other programs that heavily read/write the disk are running simultaneously, such as Time Machine backups. It is recommended to close these programs and try again.
DaisyDisk itself does not provide file recovery functionality. However, its unique ‘Collector’ mechanism gives you a buffer opportunity. Before emptying the collector, files are not physically deleted. If you have already emptied the collector, immediately stop using the disk and use specialized Mac data recovery software to attempt recovery.
This is normal. DaisyDisk calculates the logical space actually occupied by files, while ‘About This Mac’ displays physical space. Additionally, system snapshots, Time Machine local snapshots, etc., also occupy space but may not be fully accounted for by all tools.
Please check the ‘System Preferences’ > ‘Security & Privacy’ > ‘Privacy’ > ‘Full Disk Access’ list again. Ensure DaisyDisk appears in the list and the checkbox in front of it is checked. If it still doesn’t work, try unchecking and rechecking the box, and restart DaisyDisk.
DaisyDisk’s main function is visual analysis of disk space, letting you decide what to delete. It does not automatically scan and delete ‘system junk’ like some cleaning software. However, it allows you to very intuitively see which caches, logs, or temporary files occupy large amounts of space, and then you can manually clean them up.
Uninstallation is very simple. Open ‘Finder’, go to the ‘Applications’ folder, find DaisyDisk, and drag it to the Trash. If you want to thoroughly clean up residual files, you can use tools like App Cleaner & Uninstaller.
Of course it does. As long as your external device is mounted on the Mac, DaisyDisk will display it in the device list on the left side of the main interface. Click on the corresponding device icon to start scanning and analysis.
Now that you have mastered the basic functions, let’s look at some advanced tips to make you more proficient with DaisyDisk.
After scanning is complete, the sector with the largest area in the sunburst map is the file or folder occupying the most space. You can directly click on these large sectors to quickly locate the specific file location, and then decide whether to delete or migrate.
Many users’ Macs are occupied by large amounts of space taken up by iOS device backups. Use DaisyDisk to scan your user directory, find the ‘Library’ > ‘Application Support’ > ‘MobileSync’ > ‘Backup’ folder, and you will find several GB or even tens of GB of old backup files lying there.
Don’t delete files one by one. You can hold the Command key to multi-select, or directly drag entire folders to the ‘Collector’ area on the right. After centralized viewing and previewing, empty it all at once, doubling efficiency.
A user reported that his 128GB MacBook Air was running out of space. After scanning with DaisyDisk, the following ‘culprits’ were found:
Guided by DaisyDisk, he accurately cleaned up these redundant data, successfully freeing up more than 20GB of storage space, and the system ran much smoother.
