Installing NetWorker Pro for Mac is very simple. Just follow the steps below. These steps are summarized based on my multiple testing experiences and will ensure you activate and use it smoothly.
First, download the installation package from our website. The file is usually in .dmg format. After downloading, double-click to open the .dmg file. You will see a window containing the application icon.
Before starting the installation, please ensure your Mac system version meets the requirements. NetWorker Pro v8.7.1 supports macOS 10.13 and later. You can check your system version in “About This Mac”.
Drag the NetWorker Pro icon onto the “Applications” folder icon on the right. This process will install the application into your Applications directory. Wait for the progress bar to complete; it usually takes only a few seconds.
If the system says “cannot be opened”, it may be due to security settings. Please go to “System Preferences” > “Security & Privacy” > “General” and click the “Open Anyway” button. This is macOS’s regular protection mechanism for unsigned applications.
Open “Launchpad”, find the NetWorker Pro icon, and click it. On first launch, the system will request network access permission. Please click “Allow” or “OK”. This is necessary for the application to monitor the network properly.
You will also see a network icon appear in the menu bar. Click it to see real-time network speed information. If the icon does not appear, check whether the “Show in menu bar” option is checked in preferences.
The version provided on this page is the activated version. After launching the application, it will activate automatically. You can click the icon in the menu bar, select “Preferences”, and check the activation status in the “Registration” tab.
If the status shows “Not Activated”, please restart the application. In rare cases, you may need to manually enter an activation code. The activation code is usually included in the “Activation Instructions.txt” file within the downloaded .dmg. Please copy and paste it into the corresponding input box.
After installation, it is recommended to perform a simple verification. Open a webpage or start a download and observe whether the network speed values in the menu bar change in real-time. At the same time, click the main window to check whether detailed information is displayed properly.
If everything is normal, congratulations, the installation is successful! If you encounter any problems, please refer to the FAQ section below or leave a comment to contact us directly.
Based on user feedback, I have compiled the following common questions and answers. These questions cover various aspects from installation to use.
This is usually because macOS security policies prevent unsigned applications from running. Please go to “System Preferences” > “Security & Privacy” > “General”. You will see a prompt about NetWorker Pro; click “Open Anyway”. If the prompt disappears, you can re-download the installation package and try again.
Please check the application’s preferences. Click the application icon in the menu bar (if visible), select “Preferences”, and ensure the “Show in menu bar” option is checked. If you cannot find the icon at all, please restart the application or check whether the application is already running in the background.
In preferences, find the “Refresh Interval” option. You can choose intervals ranging from 1 second to 60 seconds. For scenarios requiring real-time monitoring of network fluctuations, it is recommended to set it to 1-2 seconds. For daily use, a 5-second interval is a good balance.
NetWorker Pro supports dark mode, but sometimes it needs to be switched manually. In preferences, find the “Appearance” option and select “Follow System” or “Dark”. If it is still abnormal, please try restarting the application. This is an issue reported by a small number of users and is usually resolved by restarting.
The application automatically detects and monitors the currently active adapter by default. If you need to specify manually, you can select it in the “Adapter” tab of preferences. For example, you can choose to monitor Wi-Fi even when a wired network is also connected.
NetWorker Pro’s traffic statistics are based on low-level system APIs and are highly accurate. However, please note that it counts application-layer data, which may differ slightly from the physical-layer data counted by operators. For daily monitoring, the error is within an acceptable range.
According to my tests, when NetWorker Pro is running in the background, CPU usage is usually below 2%, and memory usage is about 20MB. Its impact on system performance is negligible, and it runs smoothly even on older Macs.
When using NetWorker Pro, mastering some Mac system shortcuts can greatly improve efficiency. The following table lists common shortcuts related to network monitoring and daily operations.
