Bug Fixes:

From download to getting started, installing Paste is not complicated, but there are a few key steps to pay attention to. Let’s break it down step by step.
After clicking the download link, you will get a .zip or .dmg file. Double-click to extract, and drag the Paste icon into the Applications folder. This is the most common installation method on macOS.
Open Launchpad, find the Paste icon, and click it. The system will prompt you to grant Accessibility permissions. This step is crucial; otherwise, Paste cannot monitor clipboard changes.
Go to System Preferences > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. Check the box next to Paste. If it’s not in the list, click the “+” button at the bottom left to add it manually.
To keep Paste ready at all times, it’s recommended to set it to launch at login. In Paste’s preferences, find the “General” tab and check “Launch Paste at login”.
As mentioned in the note, the sync feature is currently unavailable. If a login window pops up on first launch, simply close it. Local features are completely unaffected.
The default global shortcut is Command + Shift + V. If you find it convenient, you can keep it. You can also change it to your preferred key combination in settings.
Now you can copy anything at will. Press Command + Shift + V, and Paste’s history panel will pop up. Click any item to paste it.
While using Paste, you may encounter some questions. Here are 8 of the most common ones to help you troubleshoot.
This is usually because Accessibility permission has not been granted. Please check System Preferences > Privacy & Security > Accessibility to see if Paste is checked. Restarting the app usually resolves this.
Right-click the Paste icon in the menu bar and select “Clear History”. Alternatively, go to the app’s preferences, find the “General” option, and click the “Clear Clipboard History” button.
Paste is carefully optimized, and memory usage typically stays within a few dozen MB. Unless your history count is extremely large, it has almost no impact on system performance. It is designed as a lightweight background app.
In Paste’s preferences, switch to the “Rules” tab. Click the “+” button and add the name of the app you want to exclude. After that, all copy operations within that app will not be recorded by Paste.
Absolutely. Paste can record text, images, files, links, and more. The preview feature lets you see image content before pasting, which is very intuitive.
Check if the shortcut conflicts with other apps. In Paste’s preferences > “General”, you can customize the global shortcut. Make sure the key combination is not occupied by other software.
Paste data is stored locally at ~/Library/Application Support/com.paste.paste/. You can manually back up this folder. However, note that since the sync feature is currently unavailable, automatic backup via iCloud is not possible.
Usually not. Paste updates preserve user data. But to be safe, it’s recommended to manually back up the data folder before updating. If you encounter data migration issues, refer to the version 5.0.9 changelog.
