QLab Pro is a professional multimedia control software designed for the macOS platform. It provides a unified interface for efficient creation, editing, and precise control of audio, video, lighting, and other media elements, making it an essential core tool for various live performances, theatrical productions, and art exhibitions.
One. Intuitive and Efficient Multimedia Program Control
QLab offers a user-friendly interface with a stable and highly customizable workspace for designing and processing multimedia content. Its core functions cover comprehensive management of audio, video, MIDI signals, and OSC (Open Sound Control) protocols.
The core building blocks of QLab are “Cues.” Users can quickly build complex performance programs by importing media files through simple drag-and-drop operations. The steps are straightforward:
- Import Media: Drag audio and video files directly into the workspace.
- Add and Control: Add fades, animations, and various audio and video effects by clicking.
- Arrange and Preview: Arrange the performance sequence in the “Cue List” and preview the full functionality using the “Start” button.
The built-in “Warning” panel automatically checks the program list to alert potential issues in advance, ensuring smooth performance.
Two. Advanced Features and Customization Capabilities
After mastering the basic operations, users can unlock a series of advanced features to meet the needs of professional productions:
- Scripts and Automation: Supports AppleScript and other scripting languages for complex logic and custom control.
- Advanced Video Processing: Includes multi-projector edge blending, video geometric correction (for trapezoidal distortion and rotation), and audio panning.
- Distributed Network Control: Allows building multi-computer systems, sending control commands to multiple QLab instances within the same local network, enabling collaborative work for large-scale scenarios.
Three. Professional Multimedia Processing Tools
QLab Pro offers broadcast-grade multimedia processing capabilities:
- Audio System: Supports up to 48 output and 24 input audio channels, featuring an intuitive waveform editor, customizable speed and pitch, matrix mixer, and a variety of audio effect processors.
- Video System: Provides professional video controllers, animation tools, multiple video effects, and supports real-time video input (such as Blackmagic Design capture devices).
- Other Professional Tools: Includes title overlays, multi-video surface processing, customizable fade-in/fade-out curves, file slicing, markers, and integration of external video effect plugins.
Four. Update Log for Version 5.5.5
The main updates address the following issues:
- Fixed the regression issue that prevented collaborators from editing audio effects in version 5.5.
- Corrected the display of sub-cues in the main control computer when cutting and pasting group cues in the collaborative workspace.
- Removed the need to re-select the background image of the audio map after moving the project folder.
- Fixed the issue where deleting the last cue object during cue playback would cause the audio mapping object to stop playing.
- Improved the delay and reverb effects to ensure correct reset when audio stops and restarts.
- Ensured that previously ignored audio effect editing operations are now accepted by the system.
- Fixed the audio fade-in/fade-out function for group cues containing text cues.
- Resolved the issue where group cues might unexpectedly interrupt when the list is looping and cues are in “disarm” state.
- Fixed the issue where network cues with a single fade-in/fade-out point set to 2D might interrupt when only one point is defined.
- Prevented the generation of non-interrupted “AppleScript Not Compiled” warnings when reopening the workspace with cues in “disarm” state.
- Optimized the script checker interface: The “Compile Script” button is disabled when a cue is in “disarm” state, as only “armed” cues can be compiled.
- Ensured that the settings options tab is always correctly selected.
- Fixed the crash issue when sending OSC messages to audio output patches or audio mappings with invalid audio channel wildcard patterns.
- Fixed the display error where the QLab placeholder briefly flickers when changing the crop values in the Geometry tab.
- Corrected a typo in the Yamaha Rivage network device definition.
